What is included with the purchase of a puppy?
All of our puppies have a series of booster shots starting at 4-6 weeks of age. They are also dewormed at every vaccination point. We do include a record sheet of all care or this can be emailed if you'd like to print it off for your vet. We will include an email or printed sheet with information about the diet that your puppy is used to. Please do not change their food, this causes serious, and sometimes fatal diarrhea. I will email or print you a few sheets of information on puppy care and also grooming that I have compiled myself as well. Your contract & guarantee agreement will also be included.
If your puppy is being shipped it will of course have its new travel crate, vet certified/signed health papers, a bed (I refuse to ship my animals in a wad of newspaper or shredded paper- if they are going to have a flight they are going to be comfortable and safe feeling with a nice lil bed, it can also offer more protection during travel) If possible I will email you all the pictures ever taken of your puppy OR if my cd burner is working (its tempermental at times) I will give you a cd of all the pictures of your baby. If you are waiting for your pup to be old enough or there is a shipping delay I will take new pics often and email them to you as well!
How do I contact Posh Pixie Pups?
Please see our About us page!
Do you ship, meet or deliver?
If the flight is available and the weather is right we can ship our babies when they are physically and emotionally ready. We will not ship unless all of our shipping terms are met and if the buyer understand that due to our location weather could possibly cause delays, which we are very sorry for but it is out of our hands. You will be able to keep in contact with us and of course the airline so you are always aware of what is going on.
We would love for you to visit our home/facility. And if your pup is out of our very own, meet the parents, and see where your puppy is coming from. We may meet or deliver for a gas fee.
Health Guarantees, refunds and returns?
We do guarantee your puppy for any serious or life threatening genetic defects for the first year. A licensed veterinarian must sign a statement that the ailment is genetic. We have the right to get a second opinion by a vet of our choice. The puppy must be returned to us, and a refund will be issued. Illnesses caused by worms, parasites, common treatable sickness, or diseases needing vaccines are not covered. Also, it is the responsibility of the new owner to maintain vaccines and deworming once the puppy is in your care. We do not guarantee coat, color, size, bite or teeth, breeding performance.
If you have decided you don't want the puppy anymore, you can return it without refund, at any age. PLEASE, if you are not 100% certain that you are transferring the puppy to a good home, please bring it back to us. We do not want our puppies ending up in bad homes, or shelters.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept credit cards, existing balance, or from your checking account through paypal (all paypal usage is an additional .03% of your total), postal money order, cashier check, and cash only. Please note that if WE need to cancel the purchase of the puppy, you will be refunded. Otherwise all deposits are non-refundable.
NO PERSONAL CHECKS
At what age can I take my puppy home?
Many times it will depend on the breed and other factors it can range from 8 to 16 weeks of age.
Because of the size, and fragility of some of these pups, we prefer to keep them until they are at least 10 weeks old. Occasionally, we may feel that the puppy needs even much more time than this, to be ready for the move.
Do the puppies have registration papers?
This will depend on the breed. Hybrid parents are all purebred and registered with their breed catagory. We do not register our hybrid pups for sale currently. It will also depend on our contract. We have a strict spay/nueter agreement on all pets, owners will be given limited registration only. If sold as a breeder potential we will give full rights papers on all purebred registered pups.
Large Dogs, Other pets & small children?
Although we love small children and have our own around the pups, sometimes inexperienced children are not safe for your new puppy. We leave this decision up to you, we trust you will make the right decision for the puppy and the child. Many breeders will not give the option of pups going to homes with small children, and there are many good reasons for their rule. But we understand that some children, even young ones, are wonderful and careful with even the tiny pets. WE DO NOT REFUND OR REPLACE A PUP THAT HAS BEEN INJURED OR DIED OF ANY PHYSICAL INJURY AND YES VETS CAN IMMEDIATELY DETERMINE THESE CAUSES OF DEATH AS THEY ALWAYS LEAVE AN OBVIOUS TELLTALE SIGN - our vet will have the right to see any pup after it is diseased for his own evaluation. So for kids... What fun is a new puppy if it is constantly getting you in trouble and causing everyone to worry? Please choose a pup that is not a tiny for any situation where you may question the safety. We strongly encourage you to teach your children about the importance of care for a pup, especially carefull with the tiny ones. We worked and worked with our children from the time our kids were infants. They have grown with these little creatures and they respect the care needed for the pups to be safe. If your child has never had this experience they cannot know the importance of constantly being careful and not getting to excited around the puppy. I have seriously had a gal who really wanted a yorkie pup untill she brought her lil guy around the puppy and we were both really worried when we saw how he interacted with the pup, she chose to get on of our sturdier size maltizu pups instead and everyone was safe and happy! As for other pets... for example...that sweet big dog, will quite possibly run your puppy over without even realizing it. Be sure you are comfortable with your dogs temperment (I don't just mean a mean dog I mean an overly excitable one) As for other pets, we have to trust you to know the temperament of your animal. If you have a cat that hates dogs, this is not a good idea, especially for a curious yorkie. Your cat could easily cream this puppy. Yorkies are bold and fearless, they tend to not back down. This often leads to terrible, if not fatal, injury.
What qualities do you breed for?
We breed for uniqueness, health, temperment, intelligence, size, and color. We love them tiny, gorgeous and sociable! We want them extremely loveable and unforgettable. We like them to be full of personality. All of our pups have personality traits that make them unique and a one of a kind! We want you to have the perfect doggy companion of your dreams! If we have done our job, you continue by training and loving your pup and our puppies have inherited their parents qualities then this pup will be more like a family member to your home.
How are the puppies priced? Our puppies are priced by many factors such as... breed, color, markings, size, coat, sex, and if it is pet or breeder. We are usually pretty firm on our prices so please don't be offended when we say No, we will not lower the price. WHY? Because we want to be able to continue our quality care and standards. We want to continue to be able to offer amazing pups for sale that have had great care! If you are purchasing for a unique and wonderful pet, price should be one of the last concerns - this is not a new outfit- it is a living breathing new fur baby who will be with you for years to come and that is priceless!!! And very importantly, if you are planning to breed than paying a breeding price should be completely understood. We spend alot of money and time caring for our animals 24 hours a day/7 days a week/365 days a year. Breeding is not always easy and it is not cheap especially when you are trying to offer the best.
How often do you have litters available?
Between ourselves and a couple of friends we work with we will have pups every so often possibly year round with a small variety of gorgeous breeds. Our girls will only have a few litters each over their lifetime and then they will be retired and spayed. This keeps are girls from getting over bred, having health problems, and dying at a young age.
If a mommy has to go for a c-section most likely she is spayed at that time, depending on the situation. We feel that it is her way of saying she cannot, or does not want to, have puppies anymore. Our dogs are a part of our family. We will not take unnecessary risks with them, waiting list or not.
Are the puppies housetrained?
All of our dogs are litterbox trained, and our puppies are started on the litterbox, as soon as they can walk. We find that if it is available immediately, they will instinctively use it. Animals prefer to go in the dirt. By the time they are ready to leave they are used to using one. However, once at their new home, you will need to start them in a small area with it, until they get used to it's location in your home. Gradually expand the area, until you are sure they know where it is. If the puppy is laying on your lap, and suddenly becomes restless, take them to the litterbox, and they will usually go right away. This also further instills in them, that this is where you desire them to go. The litterbox must be kept clean. they are not like cats, who will keep piling it in. They won't go in if it's dirty.
If you prefer your puppy to go outside, they should be fairly easy to train, since they have already been taught to go in a specific place.
What are the size and temperaments of the parents?
All of the parents have their own biography pages. You can learn about each one by clicking on their links at the Home page.
Do you guarantee size?
No breeder can guarantee size. We use the weight/growth charts to guestimate size. Sometimes, just like a room full of 20 inch 7lb human babies all grow up to be different sizes no matter the size of the parents, puppies can end up smaller or larger than was thought. Please do not purchase your puppy based only on hope of size. If you absolutely MUST have a dog a certain size I encourage adopting an adult that fits your desire. Other factors contribute to size, such as overfeeding. Be sure to follow the directions on the bag of dog food. A puppy that has accelerated growth from over feeding, can have heart problems later. The body tends to grow faster, than the heart, in dogs.
Terms: Teacup, Pocket, etc.?
Please know that these are not breed names, registered terms, or breed standards. It is only a descriptive term used to describe dogs usually under 5 pounds. And they are tiny and cute and unique. These terms are a good way for a breeder to describe the size of their breed or pups. Some breeders scowl at these terms - I don't. A dog under 5lbs is a very small dog why can't it have a cute lil reference name? Its a good way to describe a tiny little dog, why not? I'm not saying it is an actual lil cup that you can sip tea out of for petes sake, it is just a tiny lil dog and I'm using the term teacup to describe it. End of story, nothing hidden, and in my opinion nothing wrong with it. Its fun! They are so little like teacup cups compared to coffee cups! It is no different than listing a "Long haired" Chihuahua. That is not a registered term either. They are all registered "Chihuahua", no matter what size or coat. I hope this page has been informative for you! If you have any questions don't hesitate to email or call us!
